Overview

New Era of Direct-Attached Storage

The Netstor direct-attached PCIe Gen4 NVMe JBOF, Just a Bunch of Flash, NS388P storage opens a new era of performance, capacity and flexibility to the server storage field. With the ultra lightning-fast large flash storage capacity in a high density 2U form-factor, 51.2 GB/s throughput, and fast connectivity in support of multiple host servers, users are able to install the U.2 SSDs into Netstor NVMe JBOF chassis by themselves for usage, and the whole new Netstor JBOF platform will become the most excellent solution to any mission critical server storage application ever.

In Support of Existing and Upcoming New Servers

The NS388P delivers data to the processor very much faster and is with low latency compared with any other existing interfaces in the industry. The system performance is immediately and significantly enhanced as NS388P works with current existing and/or upcoming new servers. The latest Netstor PCI Express 4.0 and NVM Express technology enables the Central Processing Unit to avoid waiting for the hot data, allowing for better utilization of computing power via the more consistent ultra-high data bandwidth. As compared with conventional storage enclosures, the Netstor JBOF has significantly increased throughput and reduced latencies, leading to better scalability and lower total cost of ownership.

 

The U.2 NVMe Flash Storage for VDI and HPC

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) hosts operating system on a centralized server in a data center as server-based computing while High Performance Computing (HPC) aggregates computing power that delivers much higher performance than one could get out of a typical workstation. Presently hot data on server is business-critical information that needs to be accessed very quickly and frequently and is used for quick decision making. PCIe Gen4 Ultra High-Speed

The Netstor JBOF storage implements the latest PCIe Gen4 technology with PCIe 4.0 ×16 host card interface by way of 16 Gbps throughput per lane, and is created with dual PCIe switch controller modules that can offer high-speed data transfer rates up to 512 Gbps (equals to 51.2 GB/s) to single host server, dedicated for varied lightning-fast NVM Express applications.

The Dual Port Failover System to NS388P

The Netstor 2U JBOF storage renders the option of PCIe 4.0 2x2 dual port design that enhances host server’s failover competence. Additionally, the JBOF unit is created with dual hot-swappable PCIe switch I/O boards supporting high redundancy, and is also equipped with dual hot-swappable 800W 80 PLUS Titanium high-efficiency redundant power supplies, making all the major components within the enclosure redundant in favor of high security, and allowing server-storage combination to run continuously with zero system downtime.

 
 
 

Base Mode / Virtual Switch Mode

The 2U 24-bay NVMe JBOF NS388P storage is considerately designed to support both Base Mode and Virtual Switch Mode. Multiple servers with varied operating systems of Windows Server, Linux, and ZFS and so on can access the data that are saved on each different, independent block of a number of U.2 SSDs within the Netstor JBOF chassis for fast data storage. Also, each independent block of U.2 SSDs within enclosure is dedicated for and assigned to a specific server within the server cabinet, so Base Mode can have up to 2 servers connecting to one Netstor JBOF unit, while Virtual Switch Mode can have up to 6 servers connecting to single one Netstor JBOF chassis with each single server being exclusively allocated to its own independent block of U.2 SSDs within Netstor enclosure for extreme fast data storage.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Complete CLI Management & Monitoring Status

NS388P provides complete management through CLI (Command Line Interface) for users. Only via single easy command, status of PSU, fan, and temperature can be achieved effortlessly. U.2 NVMe SSDs’ state info within the enclosure can also be reached, and Base mode and Virtual Switch mode can be conveniently selected via CLI. Furthermore, the Netstor 2U NVMe JBOF storage has been considerately designed with an RJ45 Ethernet port at real panel to easily let administrators access storage components’ info remotely at anytime for the best efficiency.

U.2 SSD Hot-Plug Drive Tray

Equipped with the latest 16 GT/s 84-Lanes PFX PCIe Gen4 switch, each U.2 NVMe SSD slot port, namely the SFF-8639 interface, within the NS388P enclosure does support the U.2 PCIe NVMe 2.5” SSD hot-plug function.
